Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service is responsible for collecting of the bulk of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. By virtue of the provisions of Akwa Ibom State Board of Internal Revenue law 1999, the Agency has powers of jurisdiction in the assessment and collection of all taxes and penalties due to the state government under relevant laws

Taxes and other revenues in the state are divided into six Heads each with its own
sub-heads.There are various revenue collecting agences in the state each accounting for its own revenue to the Internal Revenue Service.

Revenue payment is done through any branch of the designated Collecting banks or directly to the cashier at the agency for which the payment relates. A revenue receipt is issued by the agency as evidence of receipt of the payment.
